40th plenary, Cavan, February 2010

The 40th plenary session of the British Irish Parliamentary Assembly was held in the SAS Radisson Blu Farnham Estate Hotel in Cavan, 22nd-23rd February 2010. This was the 20th anniversary plenary of the Assembly, which first met as the British Irish Inter Parliamentary Body in London in February 1990.

Under the theme of "Towards Economic Recovery" the plenary was one of the most succesful in the Assembly's history and heard addresses from:

  • The Irish Taoiseach, Brian Cowen TD
  • The Governor of the Irish Central Bank, Professor Patrick Honohan
  • The Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland, Matt Baggott
  • The Commissioner of An Garda Siochana, Fachtna Murphy
  • The US Special Economic Envoy to Northern Ireland, Declan Kelly
