Before July 2025 the Assembly’s four subject committees had the following remits:
- Committee A: Sovereign Matters
- Committee B: European Affairs
- Committee C: Economic
- Committee D: Environmental and Social
Details of the work undertaken by each Committee and the reports issued are available below.
Committee A – Sovereign Matters
Committee A considered sovereign matters of relevance to both Britain and Ireland.
Committee B – European Affairs
Committee B produced regular reports on the relationships between BIPA jurisdictions and EU institutions.
Committee C – Economic
Committee C considered economic matters and the shared interests of the economies across Britain and Ireland.
Committee D – Environmental and Social
Committee D examined matters of environmental protection and sustainability, and social issues. Recognising that issues such as climate change and energy supply do not respect national borders, it aimed to further common approaches to policy in this area across Britain and Ireland.
