42nd plenary, Cork, June 2011

The 42nd plenary of the British Irish Parliamentary Assembly was held in the Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork, 13-14th June 2011.

This was the first plenary since the Irish General Election of February 2012 and the appointment of Joe McHugh TD as the new Irish Co-Chairman.

The theme of the plenary was "Employment and Economic Recovery."

Guest speakers at the plenary included:

  • An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD
  • Frank Daly, Chairman, National Asset Management Agency
  • Frank Ryan, CEO, Enterprise Ireland
  • Peter Byrne, Acting CEO of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce

The plenary also passed a motion condemning the murder of PSNI officer Ronan Kerr. It also paid tribute to former Taoiseach, Garret FitzGerald, and the former Minister for Finance, Brian Lenihan, who died recently.
