65th plenary, Kildare, October 2023

The 65th plenary of the British Irish Parliamentary Assembly was held in the K CLub Hotel, Straffan, Co. Kildare, from 22 - 24 October 2023.

There was an opening address at the plenary by Michael McGrath TD, Minister for Finance

Other speakers at the 65th plenary included:

  • Rt Hon Steve Baker MP, UK Minister of State for Northern Ireland
  • Ossian Smyth TD, Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications 
  • Pamela Arthurs, Chief Executive, East Border Region 
  • His Excellency Paul Johnston, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Ireland
  • Lisa Vaughan, CEO, Tipperary Energy Agency.
  • Eugene Conlon, Manager, Energy Team and the Market House, Dunleer, SEC.

There was also an innovative panel discussion on developing wind energy with representatives from the private sector including:

  • Noel Cunniffe, CEO, Wind Energy Ireland
  • Niall Goodwin, Head of Policy, Wind Energy Ireland
  • Marian Troy, Head of Corporate Affairs - Ireland, SSE
  • Matt Pringle, Head of Public Affairs, SSE
